π Sprout β Child Safety & Privacy
Sprout is a focus timer used by students, families, and classrooms. Here is exactly how we keep kids safe β in plain language, no jargon.
Who can see my child?
Only people they personally invite with a 6-character code. Nobody else. Ever.
There are no public rooms, no user search, and no way to browse or discover other users. A stranger cannot find your child on Sprout.
What information is shared?
Only the buddy's nickname (chosen by the child) and how many focus sessions they've done.
Never shared: real name, email, age, location, school, photo, online status, or timezone. Sprout doesn't even ask for most of these.
Can strangers message my child?
No. There is no messaging, chat, comments, reactions, or any communication feature anywhere in Sprout. It is impossible to contact a child through this app.
What if something goes wrong?
Every group has a one-tap Report button. Reports go directly to our review team.
Children can also Leave any group instantly, with no questions asked.
Is this COPPA compliant?
Yes. Children under 13 are shown an age gate and directed to ask a parent or teacher to set up group features for them.
We do not collect personal information from children under 13. Solo timer progress stays on the device β no account needed, nothing sent to us.
Classroom use
Teachers can create groups for their classrooms using the same invite-code system. Students join with the code the teacher provides, and the teacher controls the group β including removing any member.
